Physiogel Calming Relief Review #1

by Sandra on 03.15.2017
“A very neutral facial cream with soothing properties.”

Today I am writing about my experiences with the Physiogel Calming Relief Cream, which is a sensitive facial cream that I’ve been using daily for a month now.

The trend in the beauty scene has been going increasingly towards looking at the INCI lists of certain skin care products and thoroughly analysing the ingredients which are found on this list.

This also means that pharmaceutical cosmetics – that means cosmetics found in pharmacies – have quite grown in popularity.

My skin is very sensitive by the way and it is also prone to dryness. With sensitive skin like mine, irritation often happens when using a new skin care product, which is quite common.

Sadly, that also sometimes happens with cosmetics or skin care products that I’ve been using for some time already. I don’t really understand why it’s like that but I guess I will have to live with it. 🙂

So that is one reason why I’ve always looked at a skin care product’s composition and also its compatibility with my skin. Therefore I chose the Physiogel Calming Relief Cream this time, which is part of the dermatological skin care product range.

Composition and consistency

The Physiogel facial cream doesn’t contain any perfume and for that reason it doesn’t have a distinct scent. Perfume can lead to irritation of the skin, especially if a cream contains a lot of it. But, as I mentioned, that isn’t the case with this product.

Other aspects that could cause up to an allergic reaction are pigments and preservatives, which thankfully aren’t a part of the Physiogel Calming Relief Cream either. That’s probably also the reason why you can purchase this product in pharmacies. I’m quite sure that they have certain standards regarding quality control that have to be fulfilled by a cream like this.

Having been specially made as a neurodermatitis skin care product according to the manufacturer, the composition of the Physiogel Calming Relief Cream is very neutral. It also contains soothing properties against itching (Palmitoylethanolamine). While its consistency is a bit firm, I wouldn’t say that it leaves a greasy shine or feeling. But then again it does depend on your skin type.

Effect of the Physiogel Cream

You cannot really talk about neurodermatitis in my case yet, even if my skin has a lot of redness and also has quite flaky parts. I do have to say though that my skin is prone to getting tense and dry – which happens frequently when it’s cold outside or after I took a shower – and also means that I need to apply a cream several times during the day.

If I don’t do that often enough, the effect on my skin is instantaneous and it shows the insufficient care by getting even redder and also having some itching parts.

Even if I’m not suffering from neurodermatitis I can only confirm that the Physiogel Calming Relief Cream has a very soothing effect on the irritated parts of the skin. Using the cream regularly really makes the redness fade after some time and the skin also looks less stressed. In this regard I can only confirm the manufacturer’s statement.

From my point of view it is really important to be critical when it comes to cosmetics, skin care products and of course their ingredients. There are quite a few products on the market which are packed with chemical ingredients and can be really taxing on the skin. You shouldn’t use those in your daily skin care routine.

Particularly for sensitive skin there are various options of reasonably-priced products (which the Physiogel Calming Relief Cream also belongs to in my opinion) that have neutral ingredients as their base and are also more tolerable than the usual “staple goods”.

You shouldn’t start using these skin-neutral products though only because nothing else works anymore or because you have real problems with your skin or even allergies. It’s adviseable already for skin that suffers from redness and is sensitive, since these hypoallergenic products soothe the skin and give it the necessary nourishment. Best case, you won’t even have any problems with your skin to begin with. 😉

The Physiogel Calming Relief Cream is soothing to the skin and regulates the moisture in it, even if you don’t suffer from neurodermatitis. The daily application of this cream was really good on my sensitive skin. So I can say that it met my expectations since the amount of redness and the flaky parts of my skin were minimized visibly.

My Conclusion

When it comes to trying out new skin care products in the future, I will certainly put such gentle skin care products like the Physiogel Calming Relief Cream on the shortlist because I’ve had very positive experiences with it.

Unfortunately, I cannot really give any information regarding the Physiogel facial cream’s effect when it comes to serious skin problems, since I don’t really suffer from any dermatosis. As I mentioned though if you have sensitive and rather flaky skin, I can only recommend this soothing cream.

P.S.: Since my hands are also getting really dry during the cold season, I will take a look at the body lotion from this manufacturer’s same line and maybe I will consider ordering it. I am very curious to see if the effect of that product is the same one the facial cream gives me.
