Avene Triacneal Cream review #1

“It’s surely no miracle cure for acne but though very effective”

Avene Triacneal is an anti-inflammatory cream against acne which I bought after trying a lot of similar products. It’s no easy job to find an effective and tolerable cure for acne, especially for sensitive and irritated skin.

In my case it took its time to convince myself of Avene Triacneal. My skin had to get used to this new substance, because it can be super particular. Actually, I didn’t think this cream would work on my skin.

The first few weeks the substance impaired the very first layer of my skin and it started to produce more sebum what caused of course more skin blemishes. But after a while this effect disappeared more and more and turned into the exact opposite which I found very good, because I wasn’t so far from giving the cream to someone else.

What are the active ingredients of Triacneal Cream?

The effect of Avene Triacneal is based on the three main ingredients of the product:

  • Retinaldehyde – stimulates the cell renewal, smooths the skin and reduces the risk of scars caused by acne. Apart from that, Retinaldehyde is causing a higher production of collagen fibers and improves the elasticity of the connective tissues. Here you can read more about this ingredient.
  • Glycolic acid – many body peelings contain this substance. It removes dead cells of the first skin layer. This leads to a better and smoother appearance of the skin and firming of small wrinkles.
  • Efectiose – calms down sensitive and irritated skin and reduces the increasing of acne bacteria.

These ingredients fight especially the causes of acne – the production of skin flakes, cornification of sebaceous glands and increasing of acne bacteria.

I don’t know exactly which substance was the reason for the Avene Triacneal cream to work on my skin. Maybe it was the kind of composition of all the ingredients together. Anyhow, the cream worked and that’s most important for me.

My experiences with Triacneal Cream

I have to admit that I was very skeptical at the beginning. There are just too many anti-acne products out there that don’t work. I can’t even list all the products I tried before – maybe this would be too much for this review. I better tell you what’s important when you apply Avene Triacneal.

A thorough cleaning of the skin before applying – I use an electronic face brush (*CLICK*) that supports the supply of blood. By the way: This review about face brushes helped me really a lot with my decision.

After the cleaning I wait about 15 minutes to give my skin the chance to regenerate and that the pH-value can go back to normal. So it’s easier for the Avene Triacneal to display all its effects.

The cream should be dabbed on exact the affected areas. So it’s more economical, because even if it’s cheaper than most of the other products of this kind, it has a price.

The skin itches and burns after the application – but that’s just normal and is caused by the ingredients of the cream, especially the fruit acid that has an aggressive effect at first.

To protect the skin during the day you should use a day cream with sunscreen (not only in summer!). At the moment I use an all-day moisturizer that I’m very content with (*CLICK*).

What is important when applying this cream?

You have to be patient and disciplined with Avene Triacneal – in my case it took about 3 months in spite of daily use for the appearance of my skin to get better. As I already mentioned, it even got worse the first time.

At the beginning you shouldn’t use the cream too often for your skin to get used to it. On inflamed skin it would be better to use a cream that’s more gentle.

The Avene Triacneal Cream is yellowish and has a neutral and not very noticeable scent. You can buy it online or in a pharmacy – but there it’s more expensive in most cases.

I like it that you can get the cream in a pharmacy – so the medical standards are fulfilled. The producer Avene also claims that the products for skin care are dermatology responsible. In case of the Triacneal anti-acne cream I can agree that it’s tolerable for your skin.

skin care routine

Unfortunately I can’t tell you anything about the effects of the Avene Triacneal cream on pigmentation marks or wrinkles. I didn’t try it because I think that it’s not the main purpose of the product. Besides, I think it’s interesting that Avene offers a cream that’s used especially on pigmentation marks – it’s called Avene D-Pigment (*CLICK*).

My Conclusion

Avene Triacneal helped me a lot – fighting acute phases of acne as well as reducing hormone-caused skin blemishes (you know what I mean). In addition it can also be used for skin regeneration and the treatment of scars caused by acne.

I wouldn’t call this cream a miracle cure for acne but at least it’s very close. 🙂

Hi. Nice review. But would like to ask if you are still using triacneal. Im currently using it now for 3 weeks but my face is at its worst ever! Haven’t got any problems on the face except during pms and pregnancy. And now I can’t believe im having these problems. 😩 can you recommend anything that can make me survive the pruge from this product? Thanks
